Google launch Google TV this October. Google TV is a software and hardware platform for set-top boxes and HDTVs based on the Android operating system and co-developed by Google, Intel, Sony and Logitech. Google TV will be integrated into electronics, such as televisions and set-top boxes. External set-top boxes will be produced by Logitech and partners like Sony will build the technology into their televisions.

Google TV will allow customers to access Facebook and watch films on YouTube in the comfort of their living rooms. Google said in an official blog post: They have partnered with some of the leading premium content providers to bring thousands of movie and TV titles, on-demand, directly to your television. Amazon Video On Demand offers access to over 75,000 titles for rental or purchase, and Netflix will offer the ability to instantly watch unlimited movies and TV shows, anytime, streaming directly to the TV.  With google TV you can watch the game while tracking your fantasy team, tweet about the TV show you’re watching, or update your Facebook status while viewing TV.

Sony has previously announced it would deliver an HDTV incorporating Google TV. Sony just announced that they’ll be showing off their first Google TV-integrated HDTV on October 12th called the Sony NSX-GT1.
